retina macbook

I decided to do a what's on my iPad, Macbook, and iPhone!

I love me some apps. I love trying the newest and latest ones and at this point I own so many that do similar things. lol And I love it! I love variety and switching things around. Now, some of these may change from time to time for the newest thing but these are the ones I always come back to.. They just work so well together and for my needs. There's one or two that my devices don't share but the majority are found across all three.

Not going to discuss the stock ones, they're pretty obvious/self-explanatory.

Fantastical 2: This is a trial. I'm still shocked at the price even with it's discount. I want to see if I'll really use it as much since I have the first one and that thing gave me more issues than anything else. I must say, this version is smooth like butter. (damn them!) It actually works really well with my iPad and iPhone and syncs instantly. And it's not too bad on the eye. Is it worth the $49.99? Heck no! Not even the $39.99 it's currently on sale for. I'll wait for an iTunes gift card sale to take the plunge.

Omnifocus 2: My one true love! (jk) I first purchased this on my phone before I even owned a mac and really liked the one thing many find intimidating, the many options. I tried sticking to Reminders but that's only good for small lists. I like the projects, contexts, the flagged events all being separate options in Omni. The price is a big thing to get over but I use it multiple times a day. Plus, they have really good CS. They answer immediately and update often. All I really ask from these people.

Notefile: This one is just for aesthetics. I really hate that textured paper in the stock notes app. This one syncs just as fast. Only thing is no picture attachment.

1Password: A must, because you're not supposed to use 'password' as your password.

ByWordI draft my papers, essays, and strongly worded letters in this thing. I got it years ago because it was one of the few that synced with Dropbox. It also syncs locally or to iCloud if you prefer and you can post from the device to your blog.

DayOne: AKA my Burn Book.. I started using it in 2012 and I love it. We all know how a journal works. The only thing I don't like is the newer updates where there's an option to share your entries. Why would I want to do that? That's what subtweets are for!

Twitter:  I used to stick with Tweetbot for Mac but it had little glitches that an app with that price tag shouldn't have. It hasn't been updated and the developers are in no hurry, it seems, they ignore all inquiries and don't seem to care because they're 'on top'.. I don't want to support that sort of attitude/work ethic.

Paprika:I love cooking and trying new recipes this organizes them beautifully without having to scroll through a blog post to find what you need.

Deliveries: Because online shopping is a sickness and I don't want to get better.

PCalc: If you suck at basic arithmetic.. and college math is ruining your life.

iPhone screen

On my iPhone but not on my iPad..

VSCOcam: I do have it on my iPad, in a folder, but I rarely edit my pictures on it. I also rarely take pictures with my iPad, that camera sucks! Anyway, if you see and like any of my Instagram pictures, it's the magic from this app.

Fitbit: I got a Fitbit sometime last Fall just to track my steps. It does it's job, sometimes I don't.

Passbook: It's a love hate relationship with this but I've been using it a lot lately so I moved it to my home screen. The apps it supports are very limited but I mainly use it for reward cards (AMC Stubs, Starbucks, iTunes) or event tickets, I really like how it updates the balance on them and I can see them at a quick glance.

ipad air 2

Inbox: I've been looking for a replacement for the stock mail app, this one is the one I liked the most out of all the ones I tried. I don't like the two steps to delete an email (I'm used to swiping) and the font is not customizable, which I find too big for my taste but the visual appeal is what keeps me using it.

Dropbox: I upgraded to the Dropbox Pro almost two years ago and no ragrets (not even a single letter). I had to restore my phone because I did something to it (I'm sure) and I lost the pictures from the previous year! I found Dropbox's automatic camera roll upload a heaven sent. Of course, I now use it for all types of documents but that's what drew me to it, initially.

OmniOutliner: I initially got it for class, it was an easier way to break down outlines, paper ideas (ideas in general) and notes.

MoneyWiz2: Like I said, numbers are not my thing. This helps me keep all my accounts up to date. It automatically balances the automatic payments we have set up (which I forget, at times) and ends up being more reliable than online banking, for me. I've also had it for years so all that data/graphs is backed up in case I ever need to reference it.

Google Maps: One of the most used apps on my phone. It's accurate, unlike Apple's, and it often updates to easier, faster, less traffic congested routes. It shows you pictures, reviews (within the app) of current or starred places. Think of a Yelp and Maps mixed baby.

Ovecast: I have a thing for podcasts and are an everyday thing for me. I will make a post in the future with all my favorite ones.

Pushpin: A Pinboard - really simple bookmarking site - mobile app. It's a one time fee (the site, app is separate) but I find it more reliable than Pocket. I tried Instapaper but it was a monthly fee to keep my old bookmarked pages current. No thanks. That cat video is not worth it!

Unread:  All the blogs I love to stalk are neatly nestled into folders in Feedly but I don't really like their app. Unread makes them all pretty with different themes (night, day, favorite gang), and none of that unwanted stuff, just text and pictures.

GoogleSo much easier to navigate and 'Google' than Safari.

Twitterrific: Favorite iOS Twitter app. They have such good customer service (big thing!) and constantly update! Those are developers I like to support. Plus, it's the Twitter app that does minimalism best. It's also universal.

We've reached the end of this post.. bless you for reading it 'til the end. I made these wallpapers to so I could have all my devices matching for the purpose of this post. You can find the download link to the zip below.

Poppy Reserve

April 22, 2015

At the end of March we found ourselves on this yet-to-fully-bloom stretch of land. It's called the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve, if you Google it you'll see what it's supposed to look like in full bloom. I read on their website that the blooms came a month earlier than expected and there was a poppy shortage. :(  (We drove two hours!) Nonetheless, we still enjoyed the few poppies and they do smell amazing! I never realized that about them because I've never had the pleasure to have dozens upon dozens in front of me.

You see that mountain in the back? There's a fee to get in and that's where the map tells you you'll find the poppies. No such thing! We hiked that entire thing with the numerous "stay on the trail and watch out for rattlesnakes" posts warning us of our potential death (lol), for nothing! They were across the road in this free stretch of land. Next year I'm stalking their website for better timing. We still found it to be a wonderful little adventure. The sound of the hundreds of birds and the scent of the poppies are something I definitely want to experience again.

*Wallpaper, at the end of this post.

Nature, you beautiful thing, you!

That's all this time around! Hope it was a pretty view for you too.. Happy Earth Day!

LA Festival of Books 2015

April 20, 2015

As I was looking at last years blog post for the Festival of Books I was really jealous of the weather. It looks twenty degrees cooler and so much easier to walk hours in. Not complaining (too much) it was still a wonderful/successful event.

The festival, cutely nicknamed 'bookchella', was held this past weekend (April 18-19). I wanted to attend Saturday, if you didn't read my post from last year (linked above) you'll see I mention the first day of the event as the one where they have the most of everything! I browsed through a couple of $5 book shops and a some were quite empty on Sunday morning.

I knew it was an 85(f) degree day so I left the dslr at home and relied on my iPhone 6 Plus for pictures.

The outdoor panels are free and they have, set up, dozens of chairs on a first come first serve basis but there's a couple of panels inside the buildings that you have to purchase tickets before. I got mine Saturday night but only did it knowing I'd need to cool off lol.. I attended the Jandy Nelson panel, Marie Lu, Jennifer Niven and Danielle Paige. --side note: I own 98% of the books from the YA Authors and didn't take them nor did I want to repurchase a dozen books-- it was really fun but part of me regretted not bringing a couple to get signed, the other part of me doubts I'd have the energy to carry them around. I actually waited until I was close to leaving to purchase anything because I refused to walk around loaded with totes!

Taking a breather! I actually brought my own tote because NOW it's the perfect time for this bad boy! Which actually led a couple of people to ask me which booth I got it from.. It's from Culture Flock Clothing, if you're interested.

At a place called a 'book festival' you'll always find interesting books you don't own and/or have never heard of. These are the few I found. (all Goodreads links)

and the Lord of the Rings trilogy which I got for $10!

Hope you enjoyed this post and had an equally exciting weekend!

Sephora PT2

So, I did make it to Sephora like I mentioned in my previous post. =)
I picked up: Nirvana Black by Elizabeth and James, Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide by Laura Mercier and a couple of the Face Masks from Sephora Collection. I ordered online the Nailkale by Nails Inc in Regents Park since it wasn't in stock, not even the sample bottle.

Perfume display

I was in Office Depot looking/picking up an office chair and I saw this organizer and thought it'd be perfect for my growing collection. I think it looks great!

Sephora VIB Sale

April 17, 2015

The Sephora VIB sale is back! It runs until April 21st this year. If you're unaware, if you're a VIB + VIB Rouge member you save 15% of your entire purchase and you can use your code as many times during the sale. I received my code last week and placed my order as soon as it allowed (Sunday morning) since last year (November) was a crazy one! Everything was sold out (Holidays partly to blame, I'm sure) and I skipped it. Sometime in March I found out about this one and decided to wait to order things I needed to replace until the sale.
Now,  I received my box yesterday but I decided to post ASAP because the sale is still going on, in case I inspire some unnecessary purchases. ^_~

If you've seen a couple of my Instagram posts, you're aware that I'm in love with Bite Beauty lip products. So rich and moisturizing and cruelty free! I was looking for a truly moisturizing lip balm, I have the Crème de Rose by Dior and besides smelling like a meadow, I don't think it's worth the $28. Maybe because I have fuller lips, I need something more moisturizing. I came across this one, so many raving reviews and I did trust the brand. I'm not the girl that will try on any lip product in store, no matter how many times it's cleaned, I rather take the plunge...and I did. I applied it in the afternoon, went to the movies, had dinner and my lips were still not needing a second application! VERY much worth it. ( Bite Beauty- Agave Lip Mask).

This is one of the items that I needed to replace. After reading over a dozen reviews on Sephora, I saw many suggested getting the acne brush for the Clarisonic even if you have normal skin. I went ahead and did that and actually loved the acne brush more that the normal one that came with my Clarisonic. The second one I saw being raved about was the Radiance ones so I decided to get the twin pack to play with.  (Clarisonic - Replacement Brush)

My Mom has used Sheseido, exclusively, for twenty-something years. Growing up she used (still does) this sunscreen (the regular one, blue bottle)... I started adding sunscreen to my routine two years ago. I trusted her opinion and went with this Shiseido. I have normal skin so I stick with the regular but Sephora was out of stock and decided to just use the oil free one. It has just as many good reviews.  (Sheseido Oil Free UV protector).

Another brand I've been currently obsessed with is Nails Inc. I purchased their NailKale Superfood Base coat and the Nail Kale color in watermelon peach. Seriously, my polish lasts a full week even after tons of dishes, cleaning, and all that jazz. Definitely worth the investment. I use Out the Door top coat but since Nails Inc doesn't disappoint, I decided to try their top coat!  (Nails Inc 45 Sec Top Coat).

For the last year I've been using Korres Greek Yoghurt moisturizing face cream + Korres Greek Yoghurt advanced sleeping facial. (whoa, that's a mouthful!) I had this cleanser in the "items you may like" right before checking out some time ago. I added to my wishlist and figured now is the time! (Greek Yoghurt Cream Cleanser - Korres)

Last year, for my Mom's birthday, we went to Sephora to 'browse'. (HA!) I ended getting both Nirvana fragrances by Elizabeth and James. I got the rollerballs to give both scents a real try. I LOVE both so so much. I actually ran out of the peony (white) one first. After removing it and adding it to my cart so many times I decided to go for it. I wish I would've gotten the black one as well... but the sale is not over and I foresee the black one on my doorstep soon. ^_~ (Elizabeth and James - Nirvana)

This is another item that I just needed to restock on. I alternate between this mascara and the Lights, Camera, Lashes by Tarte. I have pretty long, curled, lashes but if using the wrong, clumpy, mascara it looks like I have two long lashes. lol.. these two work great for me.  (Better than Sex mascara - Too Faced)

Yet another restock item. I love this Anastasia brow wiz for quick, I-don't-have-a-lot-of-time, moments. I alternate between the pencil, the powder duo and the dip brow pomade. (Brow Wiz -Anastasia)

I love Nails Inc, I don't care in the least for Victoria Beckham. I saw this duo everywhere when it came out but I don't like red and the 'tan' looked blah so I dismissed it. Then I started seeing (only) this color all over the beauty bloggers + Istagrammers I follow, saying what a wonderful shade of creme and how its not like anything else..  So here we are!  (Victoria, Victoria Beckham x Nails Inc).

Sometime in March I was getting my creep on on Kat Von D's Instagram account. I saw a sneak peek for the the Shade + Light Eye palette and that was the first thing I knew I NEEDED to get once the sale came around. I have her Shade + Light contour palette and it's amazing! Everything blends so beautifully, not cakey or powdery.  I also have her Innerstellar eyeshadow palette and, again, everything applies like butter. I knew that this would be the same. (Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette - Kat Von D)

I started looking through my wishlist and this was one of the oldest items in it. The price is the reason I never considered it but it's something I look at once in a while.. Plus, Laura Mercier is a brand that goes on my face daily, so it's trustworthy. It was near my birthday so I figured 'what the heck!'... and OMG... It smells AMAZING! It's not an overwhelming sweet smell. It's pricey but the jar is a decent size. I now need* the body crème. (Crème de Pistachio Scrub - Laura Mercier).

This thing is magic.. I put it on last night and it has such a sweet scent and it's hydrating without it being greasy (like most body butters). This is the vanilla apricot scent and it's truly wonderful!  (Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter -Josie Maran)

Alright, that's all folks!

Actually, I may get a couple of other things before the sale is over and if  I do, it'll be up here!

I hope you guys enjoy this post and happy shopping!

April Calendar

April 2, 2015

I have a couple of posts planned that I got behind on. Those are still coming but the one that can't really wait are my calendar ones. How useful can an April calendar be in May? lol
I have a ton of Disneyland pictures and poppy field (Instagram preview) pictures coming up! April is my birthday month, my brothers birthday, my anniversary... there's basically something to plan for every week! It'll be a little busier than a regular month and I'd like to enjoy that more than spend it behind a computer. ^_^  But I always post on Instagram (first) so follow me there if you don't already!

This calendar and phone care are from Rifle Paper Co. My obsession is still strong!

Happy Birthday to all my fellow April babies.
